This guy parks his V6 Mustang here every day in a Kroger parking lot. It’s not in the direct front of the store, but off to the side. It drives me nuts. Unless you’re parking a coach bus, or another vehicle that physically cannot fit into a parking space, I think double parking is always wrong. Apologies for the photo quality.

If there aren’t a lot of cars in the lot, leave it alone. If the lot was full or it’s taking up spots near the front of the store, then it’s fair game.

Nay.

If you feel you have to park like that, then you have a car that is too expensive for your wallet.

I should note I have no intention of harming or vandalizing the vehicle. I have brought this up to local friends and family with mixed reviews. Thought this page would get a kick debating on it.

I don’t like the practice but if it’s not really impeding anyone, then I ignore it.

I've driven the 3.7 and it's actually pretty good, 305hp is fine for that car. The 4.0 tho? Geez..

He’s just compensating for the 2 missing cylinders by parking in 2 spaces.

I don’t know how that guy makes his decisions, but as for me, I refuse to double-park because I can’t trust that there are still going to be plenty of available parking spaces by the time I come back out to my car for my par king technique to be negligible. Also because  I know my car is not the exception to the rule.

There are definitely exceptions though. I certainly wouldn’t expect a limo driver to hang half of the car out into the aisle. That aisle needs to be kept clear at all times, and that’s more important than fitting a car in just one space.

I also feel bad for those with dually trucks. I used to drive one as a work vehicle, and I always felt like trying to fit the extra width in one space was hurting more than it was helping. The dually fenders take up a lot of that shared space that we’re supposed to have for opening doors and such.

I just don’t understand how anyone could possibly feel comfortable walking back to their car knowing that everyone who sees them thinks they’re  a huge dickhead.

I would never double park for fear of inciting someone’s wrath and inducing them to vandalism. That being said, I completely understand double parking (even quadruple parking) your giant du ally down on the other end of the parking lot from the store because it’s the size of an aircraft carrier and handles little better. I’m also cool with you double parking two door coupes (infuriating we live in a work where we have to specify TWO DOOR coupe) on the far end of the lot because of how huge the doors can be. My Solara is almost impossible to get out of in a Walmart parking lot because Walmart are cheap dirtbags that don’t want to buy extra parking space so they squeeze us in like sardines.

I don't care what people drive. If it can safely fit in one spot, don't take up two. And if your car is too precious to be parked in a single space, then you should use one of your other cars for the trip to the store.

Unacceptable in all contexts, but I can understand. When I drive the 996 I park by myself (in a single space)  way the hell away from everyone because the doors are so damn long, it has 0 door dings now and it’s free exercise. I’d say 60% of the time I come out and someone is right next to me for some reason. There will be a giant gulf of open space then me and some jack ass who couldn’t be bothered to leave an empty space between us. Sigh. Just loves the fancy Volkswagen I guess.

When I had my 2 door Wrangler I would have parked in the spot to his rear. Would have fit perfectly. Could have got it within about an inch away from his car just to make him extra uncomfortable.  Used to park beside asshole park jobs like that all the time. I preferred when I could get really close to the drivers side though.

Double parking is no good.  Just find the end space and crowd the curb.  This just makes your car stick out and become a potential target for d-baggery.  At least it’s not up front in a crowded lot, but then it’s unnecessary and it makes people think you’re a tool.

I agree, I drove a 16 passenger van across the country last year . I had to use two spots so I don’ t stick out. I made sure to park away from congested areas too. It’s common courtesy.
